Julia Cyr is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Compass Behavioral Health in Falls Church, Virginia. She studied psychology at Georgia Tech, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Connecticut, and completed her MSN in psychiatric mental health at George Washington University.

Why did you go into behavioral health?
“I worked at a camp for kids with serious and chronic illnesses, and fell in love with both medicine and behavioral health. In my early nursing career, I saw how important and common mental health struggles are, and how much change can come when someone seeks treatment and feels heard.”
What can a new client expect working with you?
“When first meeting, I like to listen to understand your story, what brings you in, and anything that is an important part of who you are and your goals for treatment. I take a collaborative approach, and encourage patients to be involved in their care.”
